Amapiano is a genre of South African house music that emerged in 2016. Amapiano Music is a hybrid of Jazz, deep house, and lounge music. It is known by its high pitched piano melodies and Kwaito basslines of 90s South African house rhythms. it has Cultural origins of Mid-2010s Gauteng, South Africa. its Typical instruments are Piano, drum, a synthesizer that gives a low tempo.
Origins
Amapiano Music genre is believed to have originated in the Pretoria area. this came about due to bacardi is loud and restricted which gave rise to a new Genre called Amapiano. Most DJs in 2014 refused to play the sound but DJ Mojava took the cause and made it popular by using Pretoria taxi drivers. It is most common in Johannesburg townships, Soweto, Alexandra, Vosloorus, and Katlehong. Most peoples compare Barcadi with Amapiano due to the genre’s similarities.
