Armand van Helden, House Music Dj, Armand van Helden (born February 16, 1970) is a Boston-based Dutch DJ and producer of electro house music. He purchased a drum machine when he was 13 and began DJing two years later. He was a key figure in the development of the genre Speed Garage, remixing artists such as Janet Jackson, Juliet Roberts, KRS-One, and Sneaker Pimps, among others.

Armand released “Move It To the Left” (credited to Sultans of Swing) on the Strictly Rhythm label in 1992, which became a moderate club hit and led to a string of singles for that label under various monikers. “Witch Doktor,” which reached the top 5 on the Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart in 1994, led to opportunities to remix acts like New Order.

His most successful remixes include Tori Amos’ “Professional Widow,” Tara McDonald’s “My My My,” which includes a sample of Gary Wright’s “Comin Apart,” and van Helden’s own “U Don’t Know Me,” which includes a sample from Carrie Lucas’ “Dance With You.”
